Why BOXY Watch Winder?

An automatic watch has a mechanism that requires regular motion to keep the inner spring constantly charged. This motion is usually provided as it is worn. Once removed from the wrist the stored energy will only run for 24-72 hours, depending upon the model, then the watch will need to be manually rewound and reset.

Many automatic watches have additional features, or 'complications' - date, moon phase, world time, annual calendars, etc. so the task of rewinding and recalibrating a watch if it runs down is best avoided.

Furthermore, watches of such caliber are precision instruments and like all thoroughbreds they actually benefit from exercise. If left unwound for long periods, internal lubrication can be lost from critical areas which will eventually lead to excessive wear on components and subsequent lack of accuracy.

All Watch Winders have features designed to mimic the action of a watch being worn. The watch is held at a precise angle while being rotated and the winder can be set to run intermittently so that the watch is not permanently fully wound. It is not possible to over-wind a mechanical watch due to a clutch in the main-spring.
If such a watch is then taken off by the owner, the spring can relax. Timepieces which run constantly in watch winders work on a longterm basis within the clutch-slip-range. In order to avoid unnecessary load of the clutch, Watch Winders simulates normal use by starting and stopping its winding program at specific intervals. The superbly made solid polished brass frame with glass panels all around to allow you to observe the watch as it is being wound. A support brace holds up the lid for access to the interior.

We are commited to technical perfection. Modern standards, functionality and reliability are the main focus. All of our Watch Winder runs silently making practically no noise; thus an extremely long, disturbance and 2 years product warranty from ETA.
